Hello and Happy New Year—New Decade, even! It's a privilege to meet you, or more accurately it's great to know that in a month's time I will meet you. For now you are a mystery entity who may or may not be reading this letter at this very moment, and isn't that sort of exciting? The only thing that could possibly measure up is the fact that you will be MAKING something for ME for CHOCOLATE BOX! I'm beside myself. Chocolate Box is one of my favorite fandom events, if not my very favorite, so to know that we will be in it TOGETHER? It moves me.
I want to stress that, no matter what you create for me, I guarantee you that I will love it! Not only am I extremely easy to please; I am also known to fill multiple AO3 comment boxes with effusive praise about one miniscule scene where character A lingered in the doorway about to say something to character B but ultimately decided against it. Anyone can tell you that you do not have to work hard to turn me into an incoherent emotional lunatic so chase your bliss because it will probably also be my bliss, statistically.

God I hate how much I love Vento Aureo and how much I continue to love Vento Aureo long after it has stopped airing and how much I continue to love Vento Aureo despite my vicious hatred for its ending. But them's the beans! My favorite things about Vento Aureo are how Hirohiko Araki said he set out to write a story about people who had been sad their whole lives, how it's about connecting with and believing in people despite the world's cruelty, how it's about overpowering fate, and how Trish Una is there. Or how it was almost about all of those things. It perhaps goes without saying but I thought that the deaths in Vento Aureo were hm not only extremely stupid but also thematically confusing. So I prefer fic that either undoes them (with a healthy dose of examining the effects on all involved) or ignores them completely.
Okay, actual things I love about Vento Aureo: Stands, and how users relate to their Stands, and how Stands interact with people who are not their users especially the person their user is in love with! (My favorite Stands are Spice Girl and Aerosmith; what a surprise.) The ripe potential for post-canon if everyone lives—who stays in Passione, who doesn't, how long it takes for them to admit they are in love with whoever they're in love with! Action, adventure, romance, intrigue, trauma, grief, emotional and physical hurt/comfort! Trish, my favorite character, and Narancia, my other favorite character! Promises of PROTECTION and LOYALTY and SUPPORT and shit! Bruno and Abbacchio being totally absolutely in love! THE BODYSWAP EPISODE! Queenmakers Team Buccellati recklessly laying down life and limb for Trish Una but especially if she tells them they don't have to and it completely blows their minds! ANASTASIA AU. MISTA. That's it. Just Mista, doing Mista things e.g. shooting himself on purpose to prove a point.
Narancia Ghirga/Trish Una: My top ship, my #1, unfortunately. They're REALLY in love and I'm never not thinking about it these days, nor am I ever not thinking about Narancia having a montage envisioning his future and seeing protecting Trish for his whole life as a part of it, nor am I ever not thinking about him swimming after the boat and saying that the wound on her arm is his own. The romance! Love to read about them like tentatively connecting over GriefTrauma or discussing the Narancia death that may or may not have happened as much as I love to read about them post-canon dancing around their feelings for each other in the most aggravating possible way for all involved (read: Mista). I love Narancia thinking Trish has a crush on Bruno when Trish is like not only is he like the uncle I never had nor wanted but you know he's gay right? Like you know that. I love Narancia showing Trish around Naples or Trish showing Narancia around her hometown in Calabria; I love each of them having Dialects that the other can't understand. I love the potential to incorporate the canon from PHF that Trish becomes a pop star but I love any fulfilling career for her post-canon, fashion designer, model, politician, Passione enforcer! I love Narancia being deeply ridiculously in love with her and not realizing that that's what that feeling is! I love the idea of them teaming up because that is a thing we never got to see! I love dancing and fake dating and fraught almost kisses while on duty and fighting for each other and PINING! I love that "Bad Behavior" by The Maine vibe! I love them flying into a crisis whenever the other praises them! I JUST LOVE THEM.
Giorno Giovanna/Guido Mista: Can't believe it's canon that Mista just becomes Giorno's right-hand-man-slash-bodyguard after Giorno ascends the throne as the boy king of the mafia. Can't believe they trust each other so much that they stop needing words for it after like three days. Can't believe Mista said Giorno feels more like his boss than Bruno does. Can't believe Giorno said Mista's resolve shines brighter than the rising sun. Can't believe Mista called Giorno's Stand, which may have just been because Giorno's mouth was frozen shut but also has anyone ever been able to call anyone else's Stand before what the fuck. I love Mista taking it upon himself to show Giorno his favorite romance movies, I love Mista being made up more of things that Gold Experience has fixed than he is of himself, I love Sex Pistols fawning over Giorno and wanting his attention all the time, I love Gold Experience Requiem showing up to Mista like a night terror and telling him things, I love fancy social functions and night drives and Naples being Their City.
Narancia Ghirga/Guido Mista: Just outstanding. I love that they can be goofy and in love just as much as they can be badass and in love. I love that they are best friends because sometimes you just fall in love with your best friend and that's very cash money of you. I think often about how hard Mista cried when Narancia died, I think often about Narancia screaming Mista's name when Notorious BIG injured him, I also love Narancia screaming Mista's name and reaching desperately for his hand when he was being rapidly decayed by Green Day. I love them pre-canon and post-canon. I love And They Were Roommates Oh My God They Were Roommates. I love Mista showing Narancia movies because Narancia CANONICALLY DOESN'T WATCH MOVIES, possibly because his childhood was too traumatic for him to have the luxury of watching movies. I love the idea of them getting drunk like idiots and kissing each other thoughtlessly because haha wouldn't that be funny and then not being able to stop thinking about it for literal weeks.
Narancia Ghirga/Giorno Giovanna: The amount of affection I have for this ship is astounding even to me but it's a lot, it's so much. I think often about Narancia's face after Giorno stuck up for him to Fugo and I think often about how Narancia dying was the only thing to move Giorno to tears since INFANCY. I love that Giorno helps Narancia to see his worth and I love that Narancia comes to trust Giorno despite being canonically stated to trust very very very few people. I would love to see an exploration of what it would be like if Gold Experience Requiem did in fact bring everyone back and how that may or may not deepen Narancia's connection to Giorno in ways that Giorno could not have predicted. Although I am a fervent supporter of Narancia getting to live and go back to school, I'm also really into the idea of him returning to Passione on occasion just to bodyguard or fight for Giorno, which just SO unfortunately complicates that crush he thought he'd gotten over XYZ number of years ago.
Bruno Buccellati & Trish Una: My Vento Aureo gentp? It's up there. I love that canonically they are very similar, enough that Bruno's mom comments on it in PHF. I love that Bruno wanted to protect Trish on his own order. I love that Trish can't begin to understand how Bruno and the others make decisions based on what they think is right, not for their future or safety. I love them having an understanding of each other that nobody else really has. I love Bruno being Trish's mentor and teaching her about Stands. I love that when she held his hand in the elevator, he held back—I love that had Bruno not chosen in that moment to hold her hand back, Diavolo in all likelihood would have taken her away to kill her and Bruno never would have realized his true intentions. I WANT TRISH TO GET THAT HOUSE BY THE SEA, DAMN IT. I WANT BRUNO TO PAINT THE WALLS FOR HER.
Guido Mista & Trish Una: Best friends best friends best friends. These two as the peanut gallery to the other's romantic woes will never ever not spark joy, but also I just like the way that they play off of each other and tease each other and secretly care about each other, and I love that if Trish became a famous pop singer Mista would totally wear a t-shirt with her face on it to embarrass her.
Vento Aureo was easily my favorite thing ever last year so if you write or art it for me I will cartwheel joyfully into my grave. That's a promise!

Still love them! Still my top ship! I respect the opinions of people who do not believe these two are in love and will be for the rest of their lives, but also these two are in love and will be for the rest of their lives and that is my opinion. I think the thing that appeals to me the most about their relationship, in whatever form it takes, is how they help each other grow—the ways, both subtle and overt, that they drive each other to be better and braver and stronger. HQ is ripe for the Superb Childhood Friends Dynamics but this one has always stood out to me the most. They just enjoy each other so much, and I am here for that.
The Tsukkiyama Zone I am particularly, like, In right now is fic that explores them separating for whatever reason—i.e. going to different schools—and reuniting and realizing that all of the messy feelings they left with are now 10x messier because oh god it's been months and the other one looks so nice, help. I am not so great at the logistics of how this would happen but boy am I great at vividly imagining the Feelings when the reunion happens. A little snapshot of this, or them pining as second-years, or them getting together as third-years, or a confession, or them winning Nationals, I DON'T KNOW, I'm not at all picky!!! PLEASE JUST TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED DURING THE TIMESKIP. TELL ME HOW IN LOVE THEY ARE AND HOW THEY STILL HAVEN'T SAID SO.
Shimizu Kiyoko/Sugawara Koushi:
Huh what chapter 379 I don't know them. Look this is an extremely agonizingly good HQ het and I think often about Shimizu holding his cold hands. These two have the potential to be very, like... Sad But Steady and thinking about them makes my heart hurt. Post-high school getting together or even just inching toward the line between friends and Something More is sure to melt me into a puddle. Seeing how they relate to each other as these two sort of bastions of morale in Karasuno who maybe have their own stuff going on that they don't talk about because they feel like it isn't their place also interests me immensely.
Hinata Shouyou/Tsukishima Kei:
*inhales deeply* They are almost literally the sun and moon and like you know that's fine. I have no feelings on that. Just kidding I have five million feelings on that. I love seeing the way that these two play off of each other and would especially love to see what their dynamic is like when they're third-years and have been playing together a long time and silently look out for each other on the court and hhhhh. This would also be an excellent ship for Hugs, and for cute LoveCom-esque kisses where Hinata plans it so they're walking down a flight of stairs so he can stand above Tsukishima and kiss him like he's taller. Hinata sent him a t-shirt! HINATA SENT HIM AN UGLY T-SHIRT AND TOLD YAMAGUCHI TO GIVE IT TO HIM EVEN AFTER HE SAID HE DIDN'T WANT IT AND THEN TSUKISHIMA JUST RELENTED! Wow! Hoho excuse me romantic tension in high school that they both thought they'd put behind them but that comes back with a vengeance when they see each other again? Delicious. The drama! Did Udai always have a crush on Akiteru; I'll bet he did! I'll bet he carries it with him TO THIS VERY DAY! I'll bet he always thought Akiteru was cool!

Iwakura "Yuki" Yukihiko/Kiyose Haiji: I am simply of the opinion that they hooked up pre-canon and that Yuki may still be in love with him. I love that they connect more over the things they're running from than they do over running. I love Yuki listening to sad bastard music and thinking about Haiji. I love them bonding over their parental baggage. I love fraught conversations in the bath or the kitchen or the driveway. I love a kiss that changes everything. I love friends with benefits who catch real feelings. I love hurt/comfort; I love Yuki seeing Haiji's pain before anyone else does and vice-versa. I love that they can be vicious just as much as they can be kind.
Iwakura "Yuki" Yukihiko/Sugiyama "Shindou" Takashi: Yuki's grouchy ass being completely gone for Shindou is exquisite in concept and also that conversation they had in the snow before Yuki ran his segment was the most romantic scene in Kazetsuyo possibly, after Musa putting his phone to his forehead because Shindou was on the other side of it. I love them keeping in touch after Yuki graduates and I love the exchanging of mix CDs and I love seeing each other again after several months apart and realizing maybe they were in love back then and maybe there's still time to do something about it.

Guido Mista & Trish Una: Best friends best friends best friends. These two as the peanut gallery to the other's romantic woes will never ever not spark joy, but also I just like the way that they play off of each other and tease each other and secretly care about each other, and I love that if Trish became a famous pop singer Mista would totally wear a t-shirt with her face on it to embarrass her.

Still love them! Still my top ship! I respect the opinions of people who do not believe these two are in love and will be for the rest of their lives, but also these two are in love and will be for the rest of their lives and that is my opinion. I think the thing that appeals to me the most about their relationship, in whatever form it takes, is how they help each other grow—the ways, both subtle and overt, that they drive each other to be better and braver and stronger. HQ is ripe for the Superb Childhood Friends Dynamics but this one has always stood out to me the most. They just enjoy each other so much, and I am here for that.
The Tsukkiyama Zone I am particularly, like, In right now is fic that explores them separating for whatever reason—i.e. going to different schools—and reuniting and realizing that all of the messy feelings they left with are now 10x messier because oh god it's been months and the other one looks so nice, help. I am not so great at the logistics of how this would happen but boy am I great at vividly imagining the Feelings when the reunion happens. A little snapshot of this, or them pining as second-years, or them getting together as third-years, or a confession, or them winning Nationals, I DON'T KNOW, I'm not at all picky!!! PLEASE JUST TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED DURING THE TIMESKIP. TELL ME HOW IN LOVE THEY ARE AND HOW THEY STILL HAVEN'T SAID SO.
Shimizu Kiyoko/Sugawara Koushi:
Huh what chapter 379 I don't know them. Look this is an extremely agonizingly good HQ het and I think often about Shimizu holding his cold hands. These two have the potential to be very, like... Sad But Steady and thinking about them makes my heart hurt. Post-high school getting together or even just inching toward the line between friends and Something More is sure to melt me into a puddle. Seeing how they relate to each other as these two sort of bastions of morale in Karasuno who maybe have their own stuff going on that they don't talk about because they feel like it isn't their place also interests me immensely.
Hinata Shouyou/Tsukishima Kei:
*inhales deeply* They are almost literally the sun and moon and like you know that's fine. I have no feelings on that. Just kidding I have five million feelings on that. I love seeing the way that these two play off of each other and would especially love to see what their dynamic is like when they're third-years and have been playing together a long time and silently look out for each other on the court and hhhhh. This would also be an excellent ship for Hugs, and for cute LoveCom-esque kisses where Hinata plans it so they're walking down a flight of stairs so he can stand above Tsukishima and kiss him like he's taller. Hinata sent him a t-shirt! HINATA SENT HIM AN UGLY T-SHIRT AND TOLD YAMAGUCHI TO GIVE IT TO HIM EVEN AFTER HE SAID HE DIDN'T WANT IT AND THEN TSUKISHIMA JUST RELENTED! Wow! Did they talk while Hinata was in Brazil god I hope so.

Iwakura "Yuki" Yukihiko/Kiyose Haiji: I am simply of the opinion that they hooked up pre-canon and that Yuki may still be in love with him. I love that they connect more over the things they're running from than they do over running. I love Yuki listening to sad bastard music and thinking about Haiji. I love them bonding over their parental baggage. I love fraught conversations in the bath or the kitchen or the driveway. I love a kiss that changes everything. I love friends with benefits who catch real feelings. I love hurt/comfort; I love Yuki seeing Haiji's pain before anyone else does and vice-versa. I love that they can be vicious just as much as they can be kind.
Iwakura "Yuki" Yukihiko/Sugiyama "Shindou" Takashi: Yuki's grouchy ass being completely gone for Shindou is exquisite in concept and also that conversation they had in the snow before Yuki ran his segment was the most romantic scene in Kazetsuyo possibly, after Musa putting his phone to his forehead because Shindou was on the other side of it. I love them keeping in touch after Yuki graduates and I love the exchanging of mix CDs and I love seeing each other again after several months apart and realizing maybe they were in love back then and maybe there's still time to do something about it.
